I am a professional bassoonist in Orlando and the bassoon teacher at Rollins College in Winter Park.. I have played in EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional at Walt Disney World, the Bach Festival Orchestra in Winter Park, and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne to name a few. The same reeds I build for myself I make available to my students and you.
Reeds are IMPORTANT!!!
The reed is THE most important item to insure the success of the student bassoonist. Too often, commercially available store bought reeds are not the quality you would expect. They can be too hard, too soft, or constructed so poorly that they fall apart immediately. Additionally, their use can lead to performance problems that are difficult to correct, leading the student to have a less than desirable experience or quit entirely. My goal is to correct this by offering a completely HAND-MADE reed at a price that is close to (or in some cases even BEATS) commercially available reeds.
